Lot #184. Latour-Giraud Meursault Genevrières Cuvée des Pierre 2002

Description: Consists of 4 Bottles, 0.75L
Score: 93-95 WA.
"Fashioned from Latour’s finest parcel of Meursault Genevrieres (with vines over 50 years old), the 2002 Cuvee des Pierre was produced entirely in new oak barrels. Spicy oak-laced pears are intermingled with minerals in its boisterous aromatics. A huge, medium to full-bodied wine of breadth, depth, and concentration, it coats the palate with velvety layers of toasty spices and poached pears. It is rich, intensely flavored, and reveals a long, suave finish. Jean-Pierre Latour defines the 2002 vintage for white Burgundies as “tenderness plus fruit, like 1992 but with the freshness of 1996.” He went on to add that he was “stupefied by the completeness of the 2002s. Analytically, they are like the 2000s, but tender, not square like the 2000s.” This estate began harvesting its wines on the 20th of September." Wine Advocate #151, Feb 2004
