93 WA. "The 2004 La Collina Syrah is exceptionally fine. As one might guess from the name, sourced from their vines planted in 1998 on the upper terraces of a north-facing hill, matured for 22 months using 90% new French oak, this wine has a subtle nose of red-berried fruit, white pepper, raspberry leaf and a hint of truffle, all with superb definition, the palate taut, well-poised with superb tension and acidity, notes of dark cherries, Doris plum, licorice, and garrigue on the elegant, focused finish. Considering how young the vines are, future vintages will be fascinating to follow as they mature." Wine Advocate #176, Apr 2008 |
