Lot #206. Domaine Fourrier Griotte-Chambertin Vieille Vigne 2004

Description: Consists of 2 Bottles, 0.75L
Score: 94 JG.
"As is often the case in the Fourrier cellar, the Griotte is not an appreciable step up from the last couple of premier crus in terms of depth or concentration, but it is a notable step up in terms of breed and complexity. Even after the superb 2004 Clos St. Jacques, the Griotte has no problem showing of more aristocratic depth and complexity to its aromatic and flavor profile. The bouquet delivers a superb mélange of red cherries, candied strawberries, violets, delicate notes of grilled meat, mustard seed, a deft touch of vanillin oak and a myriad of chalky soil tones. On the palate the wine is fullish, deep and intensely flavored, with a sappy core of fruit, taught acids, and excellent length and grip on the ripely tannic finish. Fans of Griotte will be well-served to search out bottles of the 2004 Fourrier." View From the Cellar, Jan/Feb 2006, Issue #1
Estimate: $1,100
