Lot #50. Lafite Rothschild 1955

Description: Consists of 2 Bottles, 0.75L
Score: 97 NM.
"The 1955 Lafite-Rothschild is more pale in color than the 1962 with a wide brick rim. The bouquet is understated but refined, with strawberry punnet and Morello scents, laced with crushed rose petals and pencil shavings. Light tannins on the palate for sure, but the acidity is pitched just right and it seduces with its comeliness and feminine guile on the finish. The 1955 Lafite lacks the arching structured of the Latour and therefore I recommend that this fully mature Lafite-Rothschild should be consumed over the next decade. Tasted at the Lafite-Rothschild dinner at Amuse Bouche in Hong Kong." Vinous, Jul 2018
Provenance: The Alton Cellar
Notes: Top shoulder, lightly scuffed, very lightly bin soiled, very lightly corroded, nicked, 1 very lightly bin soiled, 1 partially exposing cork capsules, lightly scuffed, damp stained, mold stained, bin soiled, 1 nicked label.
