Spectrum Wine Auction Invites You to a
New Series of FREE Tastings!
Announcing the Spectrum Wine Auctions “Pop-Up” Series:
In the spirit of the “pop-up” restaurant craze, Spectrum Wine Auctions is excited to announce that we will host monthly thematic tastings in Los Angeles, Orange County, and beyond!
First Tasting of Haut-Brion vs. La Mission Haut-Brion
June 27, 2012 | Space is Limited - RSVP Today!
We will be always on the move - it might be a restaurant in Venice, a wine store in Sliver Lake, a winery in Santa Barbara, a wine bar in Newport Beach - we will “pop-up” near you with a fun, educational and FREE tasting event!
It will always be on the last Wednesday of every month, with the mission to pop corks on some great wines with our clients and friends. It will always be fun, free and easy, but you must RSVP!
La Mission Haut-Brion vs. Haut-Brion Pop-up!
Dueling chateaux located across the street from each other, La Mission Haut-Brion and Haut-Brion both have a distinct terroir. We'll taste from the exceptional 1985 and 1998 vintages and also from their recent second wines, Le Clarence de Haut-Brion and La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion.
Don’t miss out! RSVP today by emailing Chris Weed at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Château Haut-Brion 1998
WS 97 "Dark color, with decadent aromas of truffles, meat, ripe berries and tobacco. Turns to sweet, crushed berries. Full-bodied, with very polished tannins and a berry and mineral aftertaste. The serious tannin structure is still hiding behind the fruit of the wine. Tightly wound and beautiful. Solid as a rock. A classic wine."
Château La Mission Haut-Brion 1998
WS 96 "Very dark ruby color still. The nose is deep and dense, with intense aromas of licorice, blackberry, warm stones, and a hint of sweet tobacco. Full-bodied, with flavors of berries, iodine and chocolate. The tannin structure builds on the palate. Still needs to come together. A baby."
Château Haut-Brion 1985
RP 95 "A gloriously seductive, classic Haut-Brion showing the most savory side of this elegant, finesse-styled wine, the 1985 Haut-Brion has reached its plateau of full maturity. The color is a deep ruby/garnet with some lightening at the edge. A very complex nose of cedar, dried herbs, smoke, creosote, and black cherries, plums, and currants jumps from the glass. In the mouth, it is round, concentrated, medium to full-bodied, with a velvety texture and beautifully integrated alcohol, acidity, and tannin. A beauty!"
Château La Mission Haut-Brion 1985
RP 91 "A complex, smoky, earthy nose, with a bit of camphor intermixed with jammy black currants and melted road tar is followed by a medium-bodied, very soft, low-acid wine that is loosely knit, very fleshy, and fully mature."
Le Clarence de Haut-Brion 2008
RP 91 "Le Clarence de Haut-Brion: The super 2008 (45% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Cabernet Franc) exhibits soft, ripe tannins as well as copious black cherry and loamy soil notes intermixed with notions of smoke and roasted herbs. It is a beautifully pure, deep, already delicious and complex wine..."
La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion 2008
RP 91 "Another stunning effort that performs even better out of bottle than it did from barrel, the 2008 La Chapelle de la Mission is a blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Aromas of scorched earth, blueberries and black currants, a juicy, savory, broad mouthfeel and powerful flavors are velvety as well as opulent."
