"The 1999 Morey 1er Cru really tastes like a not so baby Clos de la Roche, soaring from the glass with scents of black cherries, plums, bitter chocolate, herb tones, a bit of venison, minerals, incipient sous bois, vanillin oak and a distinctive floral topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, fullish and beautifully focused, with a rock solid core of fruit, and really profound length and grip on the ripely tannic finish. This is superb in 1999."
