91 JG. " I have been accustomed to the Vireuils here to be a bit high-toned and much more defined by its minerality, but the 2004 is strikingly nutty and expressive in its fruit component. The bouquet offers up a lovely mélange of apple, grapefruit, lime, minerals, apple blossoms and a touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is fairly fat and ample on the attack, and then all mineral from the mid-palate back, with the zesty acidity really driving the wine on the finish. I cannot remember such an impressive showing of the Vireuils in its youth chez Roulot." View From the Cellar, Jan/Feb 2006, Issue #1 |
