Lot #485. Louis Jadot (Château des Jacques) Moulin-à-Vent La Roche 2009

Description: Consists of 8 Bottles, 0.75L
Score: 92-93 WA.
"Despite what its name seems to imply, Jadot’s 2009 Moulin-a-Vent La Roche comes from a deep, clay-rich site (right by the famous windmill) though one that is located over a vein of quartzite. De Castelnau insists that wine from this site is normally “under wood” at this stage, but I find this example especially free of extraneous aromas much less roughness or drying from its new barrels. Bright red raspberry and currant; cardamom and nutmeg; musky peony and narcissus perfume; as well as a flattering hint of salted caramel inform a wine exhibiting a delicious counterpoint of richness and brightness; plushness and lift. This finishes with virtually vibratory intensity of interaction between fruit, spice, and pungent, saline, somehow seemingly crystalline minerality. What a tribute to its vintage, appellation, and producer this is, not to mention will be over the next . . . who can say, really, how many years!" Wine Advocate #190, Aug 2010
Provenance: The Sea Cliff Cellar
Lot Location: Orange County
Estimate: $250
