Lot #159. Vieux Château Certan 1945

Description: Consists of 1 Bottle, 0.75L
Region: France, Bordeaux, Pomerol.
Score: 99 NM.
"Tasted at the Bipin Desai VCC vertical in Los Angeles. Apparently this was undrinkable for the first fifteen years of its life but now it flirts with perfection. It has an unbelievably deep, almost opaque garnet colour, incredibly intense on the nose with blackberry, cassis, iodine and liquorices. There is an odd Wellington boot aroma as well! The palate is full-bodied with amazing concentration, firm structure, great weight with almost chewy tannins. Black plum, liquorices, black olive a hint of soy and a Burgundian, silky smooth texture. Supreme focus with immense delineation on the finish that seems to go on forever and ever, with mint lingering seductively in the mouth. Sublime." Neal Martin, Wine Journal, Jul 2013
Provenance: The Tower Cellar
Notes: Very top shoulder, worn and lightly corroded Château-branded short capsule, heavily torn and heavily bin soiled label.
