91 WA. "Pineapple, orange, candied lemon, catnip, and gooseberry preserves rise effusively from the glass of Catoir 2008 Haardter Herzog Rieslaner Spatlese, generating an impression akin to a Rieslaner-Scheurebe or Rieslaner-Sauvignon blend. Prominent sweetness is pitted against strong citricity and an almost metallic sense of brightness and sheen. Dried apricot and brown spices add complexity to the outrageously intense fruit of this brash wine that finishes with blood-drawing sharpness and penetration. It should keep well for at least two decades, though I’m not sure whether to suggest that it will tone down or become more harmonious in the course of time, nor even whether I want it to."
