93 AG. "Giovanni Manzone's 1990 Barolo Riserva De Grazia Cuvée is a single-tonneau lot fashioned with the help of importer Marc de Grazia to test malolactic fermentation in oak. Based on this wine, I can only conclude that the results have proven to be nothing less than spectacularly successful, as this remains one of the best wines to emerge from Manzone's cellar. This is an exceptionally polished Barolo with tremendous energy and drive in its mineral-infused dark fruit, violets, sweet herbs and spices. Still quite young, the wine offers superb harmony and fantastic balance." Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com, Feb 2010 |
