Lot #37. Petrus 1978

Description: Consists of 1 Bottle, 0.75L
Region: France, Bordeaux, Pomerol.
Score: 18.5 JR.
"Pale, mid rusty-ruby. Sweet liqueur on the palate with a slightly dusty nose. Very sweet start and fully developed with attractive dusty, biscuit (sweet tea biscuit) aromas. Very fresh with more depth than any other 1978 red bordeaux I can remember, but no excess of alcohol. Jewelly texture and freshness and great opulence but in a fresh idiom. Wonderfully complete even if not the headiest, densest Pétrus. Very, very long." JancisRobinson.com, Dec 8 2009
Provenance: The Chanteur Cellar
Notes: Base neck, corroded, scuffed and cut Château-branded capsule to reveal Château- and vintage-branded cork, heavily torn, heavily scuffed, tattered, heavily bin soiled and heavily mold stained label, vintage indiscernible on label.
