Lot #48. Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame Rosé Brut 2006

Description: Consists of 1 Bottle, 0.75L
Region: France, Champagne.
Score: 95 DC.
"The grapes come from the same Grand Cru villages as the white La Grande Dame 2006 - Ay, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Verzy and Verzenay and Avize, Oger and Le Mesnil – but here the blend is 45% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Noir red wine made with grapes from the ‘Clos Colin’ vineyard in Bouzy. The red Pinot Noir wine from this vineyard recalls the elegant expressiveness of Chambolle-Musigny, especially in regard to the tannins. After seven years on the lees, the wine was disgorged with a dosage of 8g/l. In the glass, the wine has a blush-pink color with auburn reflections. The Champagne has a distinct style and great personality with the intensity of crispy red cherry, the acidity of pomegranate and red currant, notes of tamarind and pink pepper along with a marine and chalky vein. The mouthfeel has tension and purity, the richness of almond paste and sensations of cacao, apricot and cinnamon, while the silky effervescence enhances the freshness and revitalizes the palate. A Champagne of great charm, one that is rare and intense and evocative in its complexity." Daniele Cernilli, DoctorWine.it, Apr 2016
Lot Location: Orange County
Estimate: $225
