95 JG. "The 1996 Clos St. Denis from Domaine Dujac is a beautiful example of the vintage and was really drinking splendidly at our DC tasting of the vintage in early May. The deep, complex and very vibrant nose soars from the glass in a complex blend of cherries, blood orange, cinnamon, incipient notes of sous bois, mustard seed and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure, with a lovely sappy core, impeccable focus and seamless balance, and a very long, modestly tannic and dancing finish. This is one 1996 grand cru that has now reached its apogee of peak drinkability and is showing beautifully." John Gilman, View From the Cellar, Sep/Oct 2011, Issue #35 |
