91+ WA. "Reminiscent of terrific Chateauneuf du Pape, the 2014 Cotes du Roussillon Villages Les Orris is a blend of 45% Mourvèdre, 30% Syrah and 25% Grenache that spent 12 months in 40% new barrels. It offers lots of black raspberry, graphite, peppery spice and savory notes as well as solid concentration on the palate, medium to full-bodied richness and a great finish. It still has some oak to integrate, so give it a year or two in the cellar. It should drink nicely . . . . Located just outside the village of Corneilla-de-la-Rivière, Domaine Boucabeille is run today by the young Jean Boucabeille and covers 28 hectare of vines planted mostly on the steep, schist, south-facing hillsides of the Forca Real Mountain. The farming here is all organic and the winemaking is as non-intrusive as possible. These are high quality wines." Wine Advocate #224, Apr 2016 |
