98+ RP. "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Trailer Vineyard, from the Howell Mountain vines planted in 1972 in the red Aiken soils, spent 30 months in barrel. It’s a phenomenal wine with just about everything I’ve found in the finest Howell Mountain examples, with even more concentration and great aromatics. It offers sweet crème de cassis and blackberry fruit intermixed with acacia flowers, licorice and graphite. Some earthiness is present, but the wine is magnificently built, structured and capable of lasting 40-50 years, which is not overstating it, given the fact that the first vintages of Randy Dunn, such as 1979, 1981 and 1982, are still going strong at close to 40 years of age."
