Lot #2079. Bollinger Brut 1966

Description: Consists of 1 Bottle, 0.75L
Region: France, Champagne.
Score: 98 RJ.
"Momentous, almost statesmanlike vintage. At that time there were grapes from the non-grafted vines from Aÿ and Bouzy in the vintage wine, something that is actually quite noticeable. The wine expresses Aÿ Pinot at its very best. In the glass, orange color and gamy, vegetable, and toasty aromas hit you. The nose actually resembles a mature La Tâche from D. R. C. The attack is enormous, despite the wine's meaty structure and rich fruit. The aftertaste accelerates in the mouth and it takes a long, long while before one is left with just the popcorn aroma lingering on the palate. It should be said that few bottles are this good." Richard Juhlin, The Richard Juhlin Champagne Club, Nov 2008
Notes: Lightly torn, lightly corroded capsule, bin soiled label, signs of slight past seepage.
