"The 2010 Goutte d’Or from Domaine Ente is another absolutely stellar example of the vintage. This is more closed on both the nose and palate at the present time than either of the superb lieux à dits that preceded it in the lineup, but this will reach even loftier heights than those two beautiful wines. The refined and utterly classic bouquet offers up a very complex mélange of apple, passion fruit, very intense notes of iodine, a touch of hazelnut, brilliantly complex, crystalline minerality and a very judicious base of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and stunningly pure and transparent, with great depth in the mid-palate of silky fruit, great cut and focus and stunning length and grip on the laser-like finish. The 2010 Goutte d’Or has the unimpeachable balance to drink sooner, but in a perfect world I would want to give this a full decade in the cellar to allow all of the magic to unfold.
