Lot #122. Batailley 1961

Description: Consists of 1 Bottle, 0.75L
Score: 97 NM.
"I had heard how good this wine was from others and this bottle recompensed for the corked bottle back in London. A simply stunning nose of mint, cedar with a hint of burnt toast, that dare I say reminds me of the stunning Latour ’61. Brilliant definition and clarity. The palate is full-bodied with astounding definition and symmetry, notes of baked black cherries, iodine, boysenberry with an almost citrus like freshness. A lovely sappy, cassis tinged finish. The structure and focus of this wine suggests this has a few years ahead. One of the overlooked wines of this iconic vintage and in my opinion a tour de force ‘61 . . . . Tasted October 2007." Neal Martin, Wine Journal, 2007
Provenance: The Bourges Cellar
Lot Location: Orange County
Estimate: $200
