92 JG. "This was another venerable old bottle of Rioja from the cellar of Peter Joseph and it was drinking beautifully this past summer. The nose is deep, pure and transparent, offering up scents of cherries, blood orange, nutskins, lovely spice tones and a fine base of soil. On the palate the wine is medium-full, pure and tangy, with impressive depth for its age, a silky palate impression and very good length and grip on the complex and classy finish. I do not know anything about the history of Bodegas Palacio back in this day and age, so I am not sure if they utilized a bit of a solera system with their oldest wines back then, but this bottle was drinking splendidly.
