94 JG. "This is the first top vintage of Dujac Charmes, as the domaine has changed how they trellised the vines here to reign in their natural vigor. The results are a dramatic improvement for this previously underachieving member of the Dujac portfolio. The bouquet is dynamite, soaring from the glass in a tightly-knit and intense melange of black cherries, vinesmoke, espresso, herbs, earth and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and intensely-flavored, with a rock solid core, laser-like focus, and great length and grip on the moderately tannic finish. This has so much more definition and flavor authority than it used to, and is a very remarkable step up in quality from previous vintages of this wine."
