94+ JG. "The aromatic and flavor profile of the 2016 Champ Gains is far more mineral than the beautiful fruit tones displayed by the Referts in this vintage, thought the overall quality of the two wines is very much the same. The 2016 Champgains offers up a deep and transparent bouquet of apple, yellow fruit, very complex, stony minerality, bee pollen and a nice touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and again fairly reserved in profile, with rock solid core, excellent focus and balance and vibrant backend mineral drive on the very long finish that augurs beautifully for this wine’s evolution in bottle. Great juice in the making." John Gilman, View From the Cellar, Nov/Dec 2017, Issue #72 |
