95+ JG. "The 2013 Mazoyères-Chambertin from Domaine Taupenot-Merme is the top wine in the cellar this year, which is not surprising, as this has been the case in every vintage that I have had the pleasure to taste sur place here. The 2013 will be extra special, as it delivers an absolutely stellar bouquet of cassis, dark berries, espresso, black minerality, incipient notes of the meatiness to come, mustard seed, woodsmoke, a touch of cedar and a nice vein of Mazoyères vegetality (which I also find often in young Mazis-Chambertin as well). On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and extremely transparent this year, with glorious depth in the mid-palate, outstanding focus and grip, ripe tannins and a very, very long, soil-driven and refined finish. A great wine." John Gilman, View From the Cellar, Nov/Dec 2014, Issue #54 |
