93 JG. "The bouquet on the ’78 Costa Russi is magnificent, offering up notes of intense black licorice, cherries, woodsmoke, mace, a touch of venison, sous bois, and tarry notes. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, round, complex and just a touch more rustic than the utterly polished nose, with fine depth at the core, and excellent length on the finish."
