91 NM. "The 2008 Bourgogne Rouge from Christophe Roumier is so good that for a moment, you wonder why you spend all those hard earned $ or £ for the premier or the grand crus. Without wishing to disrespect those wines, it is simple testament to how Christophe makes such a gorgeous generic red Burgundy. The nose is pure and beautifully defined: crisp, fresh and bursting with lively red cherry fruit laced with sous-bois scents. The palate demonstrates exquisite balance with more than adequate fruit concentration. It just so tensile from start to finish. Feel free to drink this now, but don't be afraid to leave it 10 years in bottle and surprise a few friends fretting about their bottles of Musigny." Wine Advocate #219, Jun 2015 |
