92 WA. "Another rocking Rhone blend from winemaker Nicolas Elliot, the 2012 Law Vineyard pushes on the ripeness scale with it kirsch and black cherry fruits, crushed rock like minerality, licorice and chocolate-driven bouquet. These characteristics follow suit on the palate were the wine is big, full-bodied, voluptuous and sexy, with a great, yet heady finish. Again, the alcohol stands out here and is the only detractor. Winemaker Nicolas Elliot continues to make a bevy of solid wines, and in 2012 has added three new bottlings, the Law Vineyard, Russel Vineyard and Shadow Canyon Vineyard. As a whole, most of his 2012s were outstanding, yet were slightly behind his 2011s. The main reason being that a lot of these showed heady, at times even alcoholic, characters. This was a common complaint in 2012 though and these all have plenty of texture and remain fun to drink." Wine Advocate #220, Aug 2015 |
