92+ JG. "The Les Corbeaux was the second to last in the cellar to finish its malolactic fermentation, as it just edged out the Gevrey V.V. by finishing up on September 7th . Nevertheless, the wine was showing very well during my visit, as it offers up a fine bouquet of black cherries, cassis, bitter chocolate, grilled meats, a touch of new oak and a very complex base of soil. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nicely reserved, with fine mid-palate depth, impressive soil inflection, tangy acids and a bit of tannin that will need to resolve before this wine starts drinking well. A very fine vintage for these old vines." John Gilman, View From the Cellar, Nov/Dec 2009, Issue #24 |
