95 WA. "Finest raisin, honey and grapefruit aromas lead the 7% alcohol 2013 Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Gold Capsule to a lovely sweet, but pure, piquant and mineral wine of great finesse and elegance. Very intense, but always precise and piquant on the palate, this is a great representative of a German Riesling style that is currently in the middle of nowhere between too sweet and extremely drinkable. This Auslese is the synthesis of both styles, but it takes roughly 15 to 20 years to get the best of its talents. Schloss Lieser has a good market for botrytis wines, so 2013 was finally a good year for Thomas Haag, although hail in August, sunburn and heavy rainfalls in autumn reduced the yields significantly. Dry wines were rare but good in their lean, racy and salty-mineral style. Haag harvested all predicates up to Beerenauslese, but it was a vintage with rigorous selections."
