92 JG. "The 2004 Combottes was absolutely singing at the time of my visit in March, soaring from the glass in a mélange of plums, dark berries, cocoa, minerals, violets and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is fullish, focused and intensely flavored, with a fine core of fruit, racy structure, beautifully buried tannins, and a very long, complex and tangy finish. This wine really stands out this year, and may well sneak past the Gruenchers in 2004 for the first time that I can recall." View From the Cellar, Mar/Apr 2006, Issue #2 |
