92+ JG. "The domaine’s parcel of vines in the premier cru of Les Lys are sixty years of age, and this is clearly one of their top premier cru bottlings. The exposition here is all northeasterly, which makes this amongst the very coolest climats in all of Chablis, and which has probably benefited the quality of the wine in this era of global warming. The bouquet on the 2007 Les Lys is very minerally in profile, as it offers up scents of Granny Smith apples, lime, scents of hay and delicate grassiness wet stones and citrus blossoms in the upper register. On the palate the wine is medium-full, deep and very racy, with a fine core of fruit, lovely minerality, brisk acids and great focus and grip on the very transparent and long finish. This is a razor-sharp blade of a wine in 2007, and should make a brilliant bottle for long-term cellaring." View From the Cellar, Jan/Feb 2009, Issue #19 |
