95 RP. "A blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah and Mourvedre, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Lucille Avril receives the same upbringing as the regular cuvee, but is made from some of the estate’s oldest vines. Even better post-bottling, its saturated ruby/purple color offers up notes of cassis, jammy cherries, smoke, camphor, licorice, meat juices, and roasted herbs. Full-bodied, pure, broad, layered, and exceptionally long and silky, it can be drunk now or cellared for two decades or more. Bravo!" Wine Advocate #185, Oct 2009 |
