94 RP. "This is a brilliant showing for this modern-styled St.-Emilion. Composed of two-thirds Merlot and one-third Cabernet Franc grown at the top of La Bienfaisance Vineyard that hit nearly 15% natural alcohol, it possesses a dense opaque purple color as well as notes of creosote, camphor, graphite, blackberries and cassis. It is a strikingly rich effort displaying lots of chocolate and espresso in a modern style that many people love, but traditionalists think is too much of a good thing. Full-bodied, round and generous, with copious sweet, well-integrated tannins, this 2009 should drink well for 20-25+ years." Wine Advocate #199, Feb 2012 |
