92 AG. "The 2009 Chablis Fourchaume Vieilles Vignes is a striking wine. The gravitas of the old vines comes through loud and clear in the wine’s textural richness and weight. Layers of fruit build beautifully towards the expansive, creamy finish. Both versions of the Fourchaume are quite beautiful, although I have a slight preference for the regular bottling. These vines were planted in 1945 . . . . This tiny domaine is located just outside Chablis proper. Guillaume Vrignaud and his family own 20 hectares of vineyards, which they have recently begun converting to biodynamic farming. Most of the wines are vinified and aged in steel, although some of the higher-end wines see oak, as described above." Wine Advocate #196, Aug 2011 |
