95+ JG. "The 2005 Gaunoux Corton “Renardes” was also tasted here in New York and it too was already quite hunkered down and ready for a long hibernation in the cellar. The deep, pure and classic nose reluctantly offers up scents of cherries, red plums, woodsmoke, coriander seed, hints of the game to come with bottle age, coffee and a great base of stony soil tones. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and rock solid at the core, with stunning transparency, ripe, substantial tannins, tangy acids and laser-like focus on the very, very long and very young finish. A great wine in the making." John Gilman, View From the Cellar, Sep/Oct 2011, Issue #35 |
