94 JG. "I have had the good fortune to taste the ’98 Drouhin Musigny on four or five occasions in the last several years, and it continues to unwind beautifully on both the nose and palate, and is now beginning to really offer some classy drinking. The blossoming bouquet offers up a blend of red cherries, orange zest, tobacco, woodsmoke, mustard seed, minerals and a faint touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is medium-full, focused and well-balanced, with a mid-palate that is really beginning to show a lot of sweetness, with modest tannins, sound acids, and excellent length and grip on the finish. This is still early days for this lovely wine, but it is now at the point where it is really enjoyable to drink, and though it will continue to improve with further bottle age, it is quite lovely already."
