92 RP. "I remember first drinking this wine with a good friend when he passed his oral examination for his doctorate. If my memory is correct, that was in 1975. The wine was riveting then, and seemingly fully mature. Today, it has lost none of its spectacular, flamboyant richness. I have always been partial to this vintage, which produced many concentrated and structured red burgundies. Where well-kept, they provide remarkable pleasure today. Of course, Alexis Lichine was making selections from the highly renowned Domaine Jean Gros, which is indicated on the label. Still dark ruby/garnet, with a huge nose of smoked meats, black fruits, damp earth and herbs, this full-bodied, powerful, rich wine clearly demonstrates the extraordinary aromatic and flavor dimension that only burgundy is capable of achieving."
