92+ ST. "Deep red-ruby; darker. Wild, musky nose offers blackberry and menthol; less open today than the Charmes-Chambertin. Then large-scaled and classically structured, with a serious tannic spine supporting the black cherry and licorice flavors. Compared to the Charmes-Chambertin, this is quite clenched today. Finishes with cool notes of licorice and menthol. Clearly lower in pH and volatile acidity than the Charmes; in fact, this almost tastes like a wine from another vintage." Vinous, Mar 2009 |
