"The 1993 is also more impressive from bottle than it was from cask. All of these wines are bottled without fining or filtration. The color is an opaque purple with a black middle. The huge, exotic nose of vanilla, sweet cassis, cedar, spice, cigar box, and fruitcake is followed by a well-balanced wine of extraordinary richness, great purity, and awesome extract. The tannin is ripe and well-integrated, the acidity is low, but adequate to provide focus, and the finish lasts 30-40 seconds." Wine Advocate #102, Dec 1995 |
