93+ JG. "The 1999 Fourrier Griotte is a remarkable young wine, delivering a truly transparent rendition of traditional Griotte terroir. The bouquet soars from the glass in a mélange of strawberries, red cherries, balsam, orange rind, layers of minerality, herb tones and a youthful whiff of the stems. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and laser-like in its focus, with fine soil inflection, sound acids, outstanding intensity of flavor, and a long, shapely and ripely tannic finish. This is a lovely example of Jean-Marie Fourrier’s minimalist winemaking style. Outstanding potential.
