Lot #33. Château de la Négly Clos des Truffiers 2001

Description: Consists of 1 Bottle, 0.75L
Score: 94 ST.
"Saturated ruby. Flamboyantly ripe, heavily oaky aromas of framboise, bacon fat, clove, cinnamon stick and eucalyptus, with a suggestion of honeysuckle. With extended aeration, this showed much more primary notes of crystallized black fruits, violet, bitter chocolate and rose petal. Superconcentrated, tactile and sweet, with compelling sappy density. Initially dominated by oaky bourbon and game, but with time in the recorked bottled the palate was refreshed by emerging black fruit flavors complicated by peppercorn and nutmeg. The finish is oaky but also vibrant, minerally and very long. Give this wine at least a few hours in a decanter if you want to try it anytime soon. This super-cuvee gets a new oak fermenter for each new vintage." Vinous, Mar 2004
Lot Location: Orange County
Estimate: $50
