"The 2015 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru les Chaignots, a vineyard that I have a soft spot for, has a very pure, nubile, red cherry, crushed strawberry and cassis-tinged bouquet that is utterly seductive. The palate is beautiful: fine tannins, layers of dark cherry, black plum fruit with an almost confit-like finish that has wonderful definition and superb length. It might not possess the sophistication of Les Saint Georges or the Vaucrains, but the bottom line is that it is absolutely delicious." |
