99 NM. "The 2005 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru had a breath-taking bouquet that redefines intensity. There is a very subtle tropical note here, delicately interwoven between those liquid mineral scents, all brilliantly defined. The palate is medium-bodied and saline on the entry, hints of oyster shell and fruits de mer tincturing the citric notes, then a crescendo of flavors towards a vivid, slightly viscous finish that is kept in line by that razor-sharp acidity. Wow. This 2005 is one of the greatest white Burgundy wines that I have ever encountered and ranks alongside Coche-Dury's Corton-Charlemagne as the wine of the vintage. 600 bottles produced. Tasted at the d'Auvenay dinner in Hong Kong." Neal Martin, Vinous.com, Mar 2018 |
