Lot #461. Trimbach Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile 1990

Description: Consists of 1 Bottle, 0.75L
Score: 96+ VM.
"Bright straw-yellow with a gold tinges; still very youthful in color. Knockout nose combines tangerine, yellow peach, dried apricot, ginger, violet and marzipan aromas. Rich, dense and refined, with a seamless delivery of superripe peach, dried apricot, crystallized ginger, white truffle and sweet spices on the palate. Extremely long and precise on the rich, fleshy, mineral-driven finish, with a sweet/sour quality that leaves your mouth watering. Mesmerizing wine and still remarkably young; this is in the same class as any major grand cru white Burgundy you can think of, and is at least equal in quality to the great Clos Ste. Hune from the same vintage. I distinctly remember this wine being clearly outstanding from day one, and it has never disappointed me since then. Surprisingly, this was made from a full yield of 60 hectoliters per hectare. Pierre shook his head and said: "We have to stop telling people jokes: there is literally no quality difference from 5 or 6 hectoliters per hectare more or less, no matter what some people like to say." Added Jean: "Not only that, but extremely low yields also often force you to harvest early, which is deleterious to quality."" Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Sep 2013
Provenance: The Nantais Cellar
Lot Location: Orange County
Estimate: $225
