93 JG. "The seventy year-old vines that make up this bottling have produced a stunning wine this year, with the depth, flavor authority and structure of a top premier cru. The lovely bouquet offers up notes of black cherries, black raspberries, bitter chocolate, meaty tones and a huge base of Gevrey’s black minerality. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and quite powerfully structured, with broad shoulders filled out with brilliantly pure black fruit, and a very long, primary and vibrant finish. The tannins here are very fine, and the impeccable balance of this wine will carry it a very long way." John Gilman, View From the Cellar #66, Dec 2006 |
