95 RH. ". . . was I thrilled to try this while at Niepoort after the 1982 VP, but it was a Madeira which I had never tasted before, always a pleasure when that happens. Coffee colored with a greenish tinge to the meniscus. A sumptuous bouquet of lemon-lime, caramel and eucalyptus really won me over as this was not only exotic but extraordinarily complex aromatically. Intense and with laser focused acidity to captivate my palate, this seemed more Boal-like in style and also presented a richness to the mouthfeel which was stunning. A slightly drier style of Malvasia, with layers of marzipan, citrus peel and candied pralines with a generous middle and hedonistic and long finish with a marmalade twang that had me salivating for minutes. My sincere thanks to JN for bringing this along!" Roy Hersh, For the Love of Port, February 2009, Issue #40 |
