93 JG. "The bouquet is deep, strikingly beautiful and absolutely à point, as it jumps from the glass in a classy mélange of sweet cherries, menthol, eucalyptus, cigar smoke, really lovely, Napa soil tones, a bit of new oak and a topnote of petroleum jelly that one often finds also in old Sterling cabernets from the Ric Forman era. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and fully resolved, with really lovely elegance, fine mid-palate depth, superb complexity and a very long, velvety finish. A really terrific bottle of wine with decades of life still in it." View From the Cellar, Sep/Oct 2010, Issue #29 |
