95+ JG. "The 1993 vintage chez Lignier is a great, great success and the ’93 Clos de la Roche is their finest wine in this year. The bouquet is deep, pure and nicely starting to show some secondary development in its nose of plums, black cherries, grilled venison, dark chocolate, a fine base of soil, woodsmoke and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and tangy, with a rock solid core, excellent soil signature, ripe, beautifully-integrated acids and a very long, complex and still fairly youthful finish. Like many of the very top 1993s, this wine is approachable now, but it is still climbing and it would make a lot of sense to leave it alone in a cool corner of the cellar for another five to ten years and really let it blossom properly.
