93 AG. "The 2015 Pinot Noir Comptche Ridge Vineyard is one of the most complete of these wines. Fresh, vibrant and nuanced, the 2015 possesses striking energy. Veins of supporting salinity give Comptche Ridge its signature energy and tension. Often one of the more intriguing wines in the range, the Comtpche Ridge is once again terrific. This is another strong set of wines from Anthill Farms. Low yields are the theme of the 2015 vintage here, as they are pretty much everywhere. Pinot Noir was hit the hardest. Yields were down in Syrah as well, but not as dramatically as in Pinot because weather during the Syrah flowering was more stable. The Anthill wines all see a good bit of whole clusters in fermentation (30-50%) and are handled minimally in the cellar. Because of that, the wines can sometimes be a bit cloudy in the bottle. These wines are gorgeous expressions of some of the top vineyard sites in Sonoma and Mendocino Counties." Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com, Jan 2017 |
