98 AM. "Like several of these 2009s, this was initially somewhat reduced but with concerted swirling it departs to reveal a kaleidoscopically expansive nose of breathtaking complexity that leads to focused, powerful and incredibly concentrated flavors that possess explosive yet controlled focus on the massively long finish that just doesn't seem to stop. Indeed, I had to ask for a brief pause before continuing on to the Clos de la Roche as the finish of the Musigny was literally that persistent. As hard as it might be to believe it's possible that even with a rarified score of 98 it might still surprise to the upside in time. I stress however that this wine is only for those who intend to wait as it is, outside of the Chambertin, the most structured wine in the range." Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, Jan 2012 |
