94 JD. " A big step up is the 2010 Roger Sabon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée. A blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 10% Mourvedre that comes from 60-75 year-old vines and aged for 18 months in foudre and demi-muid, it exhibits classic southern Rhône aromatics of blackberry, kirsch liqueur, garrigue, spice-box, and big minerality on the nose. This is followed by a full-bodied, elegant, and seamless 2010 that has a balanced, harmonious feel, excellent freshness, and gorgeously polished tannin. It is no blockbuster and leans more towards elegance than sheer power, yet it gains in stature and class with time in the glass." Jeb Dunnuck, Sep 2012 |
